Wetumpka, AL- Both State League teams from Wetumpka United Soccer Club qualified for the Final Four semi-final Tournament in Foley.
The 2003 Girls, Coached by Coaches Sanders and Segarra brought dominated the regular season, going undefeated in League Play. While they were able to play through the pitfalls of 2020 for most of the season, they were unable to able avoid covid quarantines and injuries. A mere day before the tournament they lost four key players (after losing 3 more during the regular season). Despite the circumstances the Girls played with grit, determination, and pride as they powered to being 3rd in the State in their first year of existence.
The 2003 Boys qualified for the tournament for the second year in a row, but made the Final Four for the first time as the #4 seed. Led by Coaches Ward and Auen, the Boys took the #1 seed to overtime before ultimately losing on penalty kicks. The Boys ultimately finished 4th in the State in their second year of existence and with a team full of newcomers.
The Future is bright for both teams as the continue their rapid assent into making Wetumpka United one of the Elite Clubs in Alabama!
